After being called to the Bar in 2007 at Inner Temple, Thom undertook a civil and commercial law pupillage at Gatehouse Chambers, where he was supervised by Brie Stevens-Hoare KC and Kerry Bretherton KC. He subsequently moved across to take up a criminal and public law third six at 6KBW College Hill (Chambers of David Perry KC and Simon Denison KC), where he was supervised by HHJ Sarah Whitehouse KC.

Thom is a registered pupil supervisor, as well as regularly volunteering his time as an advocacy trainer for Inner Temple, where he is a Governing Bencher. He is a member of the advisory board of the charity APPEAL, which campaigns for reform of the criminal justice system. In his (limited) spare time, enjoys tackling The Times crossword, and running.

Thom is a member of Deka Chambers, which is a leading common law set of barristers' chambers, based in London.

Deka Chambers are at the forefront of change in the legal profession, providing modern, professional and approachable legal services to a wide range of clients throughout the country and abroad.
